How to warn yourself when a site is blocking search engines
“Discourage search engines from indexing this site” is a checkbox in WordPress’s Reading settings. It’s there for development environments – but it’s easy to forget to uncheck it before launch, or for a client to toggle it accidentally months later.
The result: the site is live, looks fine, but is quietly invisible to Google.
