Start with one site: how to use your 14-day ToggleWP trial
Rolling out a new plugin to your client sites is a big decision. That’s why ToggleWP comes with a free 14-day trial. It gives you time to set things up on a practice site, at your own pace, before you roll it out across more of your sites.
Why start with a practice site
Your first site should be one where mistakes don’t matter: a staging copy, a demo site, or your own agency site. It’s somewhere you can switch things on and off, try settings, and see what each one actually does on a real WordPress install, with no client watching.
Nothing you do on the practice site is wasted. The Feature Sets, policies and settings you build based on your practices are the ones you’ll use for every client site afterwards.
What to try during the trial
You don’t need to do everything in the first afternoon. Here’s a sensible order over the two weeks.
Days 1–2: connect your practice site
Add the site in the dashboard, then pair it using the pairing code ToggleWP Cloud gives you. The client site needs no special hosting or server changes. Once it has synced, you’ll see it in your dashboard with its plugins and status.
Days 3–6: build your Feature Sets and policies
This is where the practice site earns its keep.
- Feature Sets decide which ToggleWP modules each site gets. Start from the defaults, then shape one that fits a typical client.
- Policies control how those modules behave, such as which plugins are hidden or protected and how admin logins are tracked.
- Policy profiles group settings for a kind of client, such as e-commerce sites or brochure sites, so you can apply them in one go later.
Change something, sync, and check the practice site. If a setting does something you didn’t expect, you’ve found out on a site that doesn’t matter.
Days 7–10: set up monitoring and reporting
- Check the site’s vulnerabilities against the Wordfence Intelligence feed, and decide who should get alert emails.
- Set up email delivery probes, so you know when a site’s contact forms stop sending.
- Send yourself a test report card and adjust its wording until you’d be happy for a client to read it.
- Add your white label details if you want the client-facing side to carry your agency’s name.
Days 11–14: add a few real sites
When the practice site behaves the way you want, add two or three real client sites. Start with clients you know well, or ones with simple setups. Because your Feature Sets, policies and profiles already exist, each new site is mostly a matter of pairing it and picking the right profile.
Rolling out across more of your sites
Once your setup is proven, adding the rest of your sites is the easy part:
- Reuse what you built. Every new site gets the same Feature Sets and policy profiles you tested, so it starts out configured instead of from scratch.
- Change many sites at once. Update a policy once and it reaches every site that uses it on the next sync.
- Bring your team in. Invite colleagues from the Team tab, so they can see the setup you’ve already tested.
- Automate onboarding. If you have many sites, the API and MCP server can add sites and hand back pairing codes in bulk.
Your pace, not ours
Fourteen days is enough to get one site set up properly and a few more running, without rushing. You decide when each step happens. You can spend a week getting your policies right before you touch a client site, and you won’t have changed anything a client depends on until you’re ready.
Get started
- Sign up for your free 14-day ToggleWP trial.
- Choose a practice site: a staging copy, a demo site or your own.
- Pair it, build your first Feature Set and policies, and watch what changes.
- When you’re happy, add your first real client sites.
Start small, get it right once, then roll it out everywhere.
