Why Protect Plugins?
Sometimes you want clients to see certain plugins (for transparency) but prevent them from accidentally deactivating critical functionality. Plugin protection lets you maintain visibility while preventing dangerous changes.
What Protection Does
Protected plugins remain visible to all admin users but cannot be deactivated or have their auto-update settings changed by non-site administrators. The plugin will show as “Protected” with deactivation links removed for other admins.
Adding Admin Notes
The “Admin Notes” column provides a simple way to add reminders or instructions against individual plugins. These notes are visible to all admin users and helpful for guiding client behavior or providing context.
How to Set It Up
- Go to ToggleWP > Manage. Enable the “Plugin Control” option in the Admin panel.
- A new menu item called “Plugin Manager” will be added under ToggleWP. Swap to that screen.
- For each plugin you want to protect, check the “Protect” checkbox
- Add any helpful notes in the “Admin Notes” field (e.g., “Don’t update – backup first” or “Required for contact forms”)
- Click “Save All Changes” at the bottom
Protected plugins will show a “Protected by ToggleWP” message. Next to it is our Admin Notes column.
