Why Hide Plugins?
Maintenance plans typically include testing plugin updates before updating a production site, so the last thing you’d want is a “helpful” client updating their own plugins at 5pm on a Friday, followed by a support ticket asking why something has stopped working.
By controlling the visibility of installed plugins, you’re not limiting your client, you’re protecting both their business and yours from entirely preventable disruptions.
What It Does
On a per-plugin basis, you can hide plugins from the installed plugins list. If clients can’t see critical plugins, they can’t accidentally deactivate or update them. You, as the site administrator, still have full control and visibility of all plugins.
How to Set It Up
- Go to ToggleWP > Manage. Enable the “Plugin Control” option in the Admin panel.
- A new menu item called “Plugin Manager” will be added under ToggleWP. Swap to that screen.
- For each plugin you want to hide, check the “Hide” checkbox
- Click “Save All Changes” at the bottom
Once hidden, the plugin will be completely invisible to other admin users but remain fully functional and visible to you as the site administrator.
