Site Sync lets you distribute settings from a single agency hub to any number of client sites. The Parent module serves your approved configuration to connected child sites, covering module states, plugin control rules, UI clean-up selectors, curated plugin suggestions, and white label branding.

Before you begin: Parent Sync and Child Sync cannot both be active on the same site. The Parent module is intended for your agency or management site only.

Step 1: Enable the Parent Module

  1. Log in to your agency site’s WordPress admin.
  2. Go to ToggleWP in the admin menu.
  3. Open the Manage tab and enable Parent Sync.

A Parent Sync tab will appear in the ToggleWP settings.

Step 2: Choose What Gets Synced

  1. Open the Parent Sync tab.
  2. Under Profile Data to Sync, select the categories you want to push to child sites. The available categories are:
    • All Modules — module enabled/disabled states
    • Plugin Control — blocked, hidden, protected, featured, notes, and auto-update rules
    • UI Cleanup — settings and CSS selectors
    • Login Monitoring — settings
    • Security & Authentication — settings
    • Admin Notifications — settings
    • Session Management — settings
    • Staging Site Warning — settings
    • Search Engine Warning — settings
    • Plugin Recommendations — curated plugin suggestions
    • AI Writer — Show AI Assistant On setting

Use Select all or Deselect all to toggle the full list quickly.

Step 3: Set the Default Sync Interval

Under Default Sync Interval, choose how frequently child sites should check in with the parent. Options are:

  • Every Hour
  • Twice Daily
  • Once Daily

This value is pre-filled in each child’s configuration package, but the child admin can adjust it after connecting.

Step 4: Configure White Label (Optional)

Under White Label, enter any branding overrides you want applied on child sites:

  • Plugin Name
  • Plugin Description
  • Author Name
  • Author URL

These values are pushed to child sites during each sync and take effect automatically.

Step 5: Register a Child Site

  1. Scroll to Register New Child Site.
  2. Enter a name for the client site (for example: “Acme Corp”).
  3. Click Register Child Site.

The plugin will create a dedicated WordPress user (wat_sync_acmecorp) with a minimal read-only role and generate a WordPress Application Password for that user.

Step 6: Share the Credentials

After registration, a Site Registered Successfully! panel appears with two delivery options.

Option A — Quick Setup String (recommended) Copy the Base64-encoded string using the Copy to Clipboard button and paste it into the client’s Child Sync screen.

Option B — JSON Configuration File Click Download Configuration File to save a JSON file with the same credentials. The client site admin can import this file instead.

Each child site receives its own unique credentials. Keep them secure.

Managing Registered Sites

The Registered Child Sites table lists all clients with their sync usernames and most recent sync timestamps. From this table you can:

  • Revoke — invalidates the Application Password so the child can no longer sync, without removing the registry entry.
  • Delete — removes the child site entry entirely.

A “Disconnected” status means the child has not synced recently or has manually disconnected.
